ProACT Project Seeking People Over 65 for Research Study with Trinity College
Feb 26, 2018
Home Instead Senior Care are excited to be taking part in an EU digital health research study with Trinity College Dublin and Dundalk Institute of Technology.
ProACT is a digital integrated care system, hoping to support people over 65 managing two or more chronic conditions at home. The chronic conditions ProACT aims to support are: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Diabetes, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) and Coronary Heart Disease including hypertension.
Clients within the Dublin and Louth areas who are over 65 and have two or more of the conditions listed are invited to take part in the study. Taking part will involve working with Home Instead Senior Cares dedicated research member Emma O’Byrne MSc, and researchers from TCD and DkIT, to trial the ProACT system for 12-months. The system includes an iPad, a Nokia health watch and a number of condition related health monitoring devices. ProACT aims to empower the users to become more aware and in control of their symptoms and to share this information with those in their care network.
Users do not need any previous technology experience and will be supported, encouraged and trained with the system throughout the process. The research experience aims to be a supportive and positive one, with a helpdesk line available Monday to Friday 9-5pm, a triage nurse monitoring health information during working hours, as well as monthly check in phone calls and a home visit every 12 weeks.
If you, a family member or friend think you are suitable and would like to take part with us please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call (01) 896 4863.
