Our vision in Home Instead Clare is to enhance the lives of older adults and their families.
With this in mind we are especially pleased to have won the FBD Clare Business Excellence Awards 2012 – Clare Customer Service Excellence Award. With the many challenges in delivering person centred care this award along with our many other relationships within the community where I am particularly delighted that Home Instead continues to be an ‘HSE Approved Provider for Enhanced Homecare Packages (Services for Older Persons).’
Since 2008 we have been building our team around our client’s needs and not ours; in doing so our Quality Assurance Nurse supports our three Care Managers made up of an Occupational Therapist, an Health & Safety and a Dementia leader. We have a Person Moving and Handling Instructor hence our in-house training along with in-house Dementia training led by our Person Centred Dementia Training Nurse.
Outside of many practical courses my particular interest in the ageing journey is intergenerational communication which complements our Care Managers as they conduct Care Consultations on a weekly basis. Why would a 30,929 word thesis; ‘Does the parent-adult child communication model give Ageing the best chance of Success’ prove useful with struggling families? The families we engage are under massive pressure led by emotions such as guilt, burden, fear and rejection. Yes, rejection is oft experienced by the adult child where their loved one simply refuses to engage in meaningful conversations around their vulnerability. This in turn places enormous pressure on the family to find a quality, professional solution meeting their loved one’s needs; to stay at home, within the community and engaged in life.
