About Home Instead Senior Care Waterford

Danette and Michael Connolly were impressed by the Home Instead philosophy of providing world-renowned, quality care to seniors in their homes and wanted to extend this philosophy to Waterford city and county.

In January 2009 Danette and Michael opened Waterford’s Home Instead Senior Care and today are the largest Home Care provider in Waterford and were the Winner in the category of Services at the 2018 Waterford Business Awards.

Meet The Home Instead Waterford Team

  • Danette Connolly

    Danette Connolly, Director of Care 

    As Director of Care at Home Instead Senior Care in Waterford, Danette has the overall responsibility of care delivery. She is passionate about providing quality of care to the Seniors of Waterford and maintaining the highest of standards in regard to all aspects of the business

    Originally from New Zealand, Danette settled in Ireland in 1998. A registered nurse with management and training experience Danette utilises her considerable experience and local knowledge to implement the most reliable, caring and effective home care plans for clients and their families.

    Danette is an advocate of providing the optimum resources, support and advice to CAREGivers to ensure they get the best from their role and deliver quality care to Waterford seniors.

    Danette holds the following Voluntary positions – Chairperson / Director of Waterford Hospice Movement, Director of Waterford Chamber of Commerce and a Director on the Board of Respond Support.

  • Michael Connolly Managing Director

    Michael Connolly, Managing Director

    As Managing Director of Home Instead Senior Care in Waterford, Michael works closely with the Waterford office support team and CAREGivers in ensuring the delivery of optimum levels of care to Waterford’s seniors. Michael is the Manual Handling and Health and Safety advisor and trainer.

    Michael works closely with the CAREGivers, Care co-ordinators and Supervising CAREGivers co-ordinators and advises on safe and best practice for manual handling.

    Prior to this role Michael worked in the Pharmaceutical / medical device industries for many years.

  • Steven Tubbritt Operations Manager

    Steven Tubbritt, Operations Manager

    A native of Waterford, Steven joined the Home Instead Senior Care team in January 2016. As Operations Manager Steven is responsible for successfully co-ordinating core activities within the Waterford office.

    Steven oversees the Care Administration Team and in tandem with the team is responsible for delivering an efficient client centred service.

  • Lisa Burford, Care Manager

    Lisa Burford, Care Manager

    In 2017 Lisa relocated to Waterford from Cardiff. Whilst there she gained a wealth of valuable and practical experience as she spent 23 years in the care industry. Her roles ranged from caregiver to care co-ordinator and eventually to Home care co-ordinator/ Assessor.

    As a former Assessor on an enablement team, Lisa has vast experience of working on multi-disciplinary teams. Lisa manages the delivery of care and maintenance of standards of excellence within the organisation.

  • Leonie O’Donnell HR Officer

    Leonie O’Donnell, HR Officer

    Leonie brings many years of experience to her role as HR Officer at Home Instead Waterford. She has a H.Dip in Education and has previously worked within a variety of sectors in a HR capacity.

    Leonie’s role is multi-faceted and includes the recruitment of suitable and compassionate CAREGivers to deliver optimum client care, co-ordination of staff training and upskilling and the management of and adherence to stringent health and safety protocols.

  • Denise McGilloway,  HR Assistant

    Denise McGilloway,  HR Assistant

    Denise joined the Home Instead Senior Care team in July 2018 and works closely with the HR Officer in supporting the Home Instead Senior Care HR function.  Denise has worked in Recruitment and HR roles since 2004.  

    Denise’s role is to coordinate CAREGiver induction and training and to provide the requisite guidance and resources for new CAREGivers. She also provides ongoing CAREGiver support and assistance.

    Bernie Power, Payroll and Accounts Administrator

    Bernie is a member of the Home Instead Senior Care team since January 2013.

    Her responsibilities include all aspects of payroll and client liaison. The remit of her role also extends to looking after individual client accounts and all HSE accounts.

  • The role of the Care Co-ordinator is varied and client-centred:

    Home Instead Senior Care Co-ordinators deal with all care enquiries; are responsible for establishing and the ongoing review of care plans for both public and private clients; liaise with public health nurses and other healthcare professionals and liaise with client’s families.

  • Gemma Flynn Care Coordinator

    Gemma O’Donnell, Care Coordinator

    Gemma joined the team in August 2013. As both a registered nurse and occupational therapist, Gemma has amassed a wealth of experience in person-centred care.

  • Home Instead Senior Care Home Care Supervisors work closely with the team of Care Co-ordinators in the introduction of CAREGivers to new clients. This role is client centred, it facilitates the smooth implementation of new client relationships.

    They also work closely with the team of CAREGivers to ensure they are meeting clinical competencies, that ongoing training needs are being met and by supporting our CAREGivers with advice and resources to ensure that they are fully equipped to provide the optimum standard of care to our clients.

  • Mary Killigrew Supervising CAREGiver

    Mary Killigrew, Home Care Supervisor

    Mary joined the team in January 2017 as a part-time CAREGiver and in January 2018 she became a Supervising CAREGiver. Having worked in a nursing home setting since 2005 Mary has vast experience in the health care sector.

    Marguerite joined the team in October 2015 as a CAREGiver and in January 2018 became a Supervising CAREGiver. She has broad experience in the care sector having previously worked as a childcare manager

    Aura-Lee Casey, Home Care Supervisor

    Aura-lee joined the team in October 2018.  She has a strong customer service background from running her own business and has three years teaching experience. 

    Aura-lee has a broad experience in healthcare sector in both nursing homes and actute hospital settings.   She has a BSC (hons) in Applied Healthcare from WIT.

    Marion joined the team in October 2018 and has 10 years’ experience in the healthcare Sector.  Marion’s background is in the disability sector and Older Person care.  

    She has worked in local communities across the UK and Ireland.   Marion has a passion for person centred care and the promotion of independence.

  • The role of the Care Administrator:

    Home Instead Senior Care Care Administrators are crucial to the smooth operational running of the day to day care of clients. They are in regular contact with CAREGivers, clients and their families, deal with inbound queries regarding care packages and implement, schedule and monitor all client visits. They are customer service focused, building relationships and supporting our CAREGivers is essential to provide the optimum standard of service to our clients. This support is available 7 days week.

    Breda began her career with Home Instead as a CAREGiver in December 2013 and became a Care Administrator in February 2015. Breda brings a wealth of office administration experience to her role, having previously worked in an administrative capacity in the building industry.

    Jodie joined the Care Administration team in September 2018.  Having previously worked as a carer and also in several customer service roles, she brings a wealth of client-facing experience to the position in which she regularly liaises with clients, their families and the HSE.
